The first mobile virus Cabir was detected in 2004. Cabir target mobile phones run at Symbian S60 platform via Bluetooth. Once infected, Cabir will replicate itself and search for new devices, and send the file Cabir.sys to other mobile phones whose Bluetooth are switched on and left in discoverable mode, if the user accept and click on it to install, it will show a dialog with the author initial and group initial and be activated.
Cabir once run has high power consumption hence cause inconvenience to the user, but it will not do any other harm to the mobile phone infected.
There have been many variants since the author published its code on the internet. The good news is that now many Anti-virus softwares can detect the worm and delete its files, you can down load a F-Secure Anti-virus for Symbian S60 or their free disinfection tool to scan your mobile phone.
