Android firmware RC29 has text reboot bug

If you are using Google Android G1 and the firmware is RC29 or older version, you should pay attention because it has a serious bug. When you write a text message, enter an address in the browser or any text box, when you type r-e-b-o-o-t, and hit enter, your mobile phone will restart.

This is because Android interprets every word as a command and executes it with super user privilege. A temporary way to solve this bug is to enter c-a-t and hit enter. But Google moved quickly to release a fix for this bug, you can solving this by updating your firmware to RC30.

Update, this article was writing in 2008, three years past, Android now is rather mature and the world’s most popular cell phone operating system.
